To cure all ills?
Thursday 23 March 2017
For centuries, unqualified practitioners have sold miracle cures, raising hopes that their nostrums and devices will end the misery of illness. This talk looks into who these historical ‘quacks’ were, how they persuaded people to trust them and why patients have consistently seen them as an attractive option. Our speaker has published 'The Quack Doctor: Historical Remedies for All Your Ills', 'What the Apothecary Ordered: Questionable Cures Through the Ages' and 'The History of Medicine in 100 Facts'.
