In most early medical texts and anatomical illustrations, the male voice is predominant. This absence of women is particularly compelling in the context of South Asian socio-religious life and its complex history of goddess worship. Sharmila Chauhan
Sharmila co-developed the Embracing the Goddess event. She is a screenwriter, playwright and prose writer. Her work is often a transgressive meditation on love, sex and an exploration of the diasporic experience. She is particularly interested in the intersection of sex, power and gender.
