Below the first title is a pen-drawing of a medicine cupboard. At the end of the second work is a rough diagram of a hand, with astrological signs.

The first leaf and the last tract are by a different, and probably slightly later 17th cent. hand. MS. No. 3236 contains a transcript of the first work in this MS. by Reinerio Bertini, but under the title 'Esortazione empirica'. MS. No. 3237 contains a transcript of the second work by the same hand, in an abbreviated version. Here the scribe styles himself 'Rainerio Antonio Bertini'.

There are also additional chemical, alchemical and other receipts and 'Secrets'.

1 volume 91 ll. 4to. 21 x 14 1/2 cm. On vellum, 15th century leather binding badly rubbed, back-strip missing. Some leaves are wanting at the end, and one leaf after fol. 23: the first leaf is slightly rubbed. A fly-leaf has been torn out at the end.

Manual of chiromancy and physiognomy, giving practical instructions for reading palms and faces. With brief notes on various other topics, including health, death, music, virtue, heresy etc. The manuscript contains five diagrams of hands (ff. 6v.-7r., 36r., 42r.), one of a face (f. 20r.), and various other sketches and tables, some of astrological significance. Produced in France.
