  • Ancient rock-cut watch-tower overlooking the valleys of El Ghor and Akabah. Coloured lithograph by Louis Haghe after David Roberts, 1849.
  • Memphis, Egypt: English travellers trapped in catacombs find the bodies of two Italian men who had previously been trapped there, and had starved to death: they fire their pistols at six ghostly figures; Arabs steal their horses. Etching with engraving by E. Kirkall, 1709.
  • Rivers running in the wilderness, with serpents and fire between them; representing the stage of 'multiplication' in the alchemical process. Coloured etching after etching, ca. 17th century.
