What brought you to our website today?

<p>This film investigates BSE (bovine spongeiform encephalopathy, commonly called mad cow disease), and asks whether it can be transmitted to humans. It traces the history of BSE, examines cases of apparent cross-species infection and calls into question the Government's safety controls concerning the marketing of possibly infected meat products. Contributing to the programme are:- the Chief Veterinary Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries, neurologist Dr. Helen Grant, Dr. Richard Kimberlin (a world authority on scrapie, the sheep equivalent of BSE), and the veterinary epidemiologist who first identified meat-and-bone-meal as the source of transmission from sheep to cattle. Also interviewed is Dr. Robert Will, the neurologist who is responsible for monitoring every case of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a human disease similar to BSE.</p>
